Do restaurant recipes have to be original?
If a person were to open a small, independently-owned restaurant, is it a requirement to use only original recipes? I mean, obviously, you wouldn’t want to copy the recipes from other restaurants or major chains, but is it legal to use a published cookbook for your recipes?

I don’t believe that recipes have a copy write on them since anyone can make the recipe, but here’s a hint, take a recipe and change just one thing on it, like instead of 1 tsp salt add 2 tsp for example and it’s your recipe. It’s as easy as that. My Dad who is a retired Chef who has owned many restaurants told me that!

sure, there are many standard recipes and you can use any of them but you could develop a signature dish that you will be known for
no you dont but it does help to change it. if you have the same thing as other resturants it will be the same taste and it wont be new so i would recomend change.
